Oregon State University is offering summer marine science internships to 20 college students through its Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program at the Hatfield Marine Science Center (HMSC) in Newport and College of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS) in Corvallis. Students will have the opportunity to work with faculty mentors on research projects that advance the knowledge and understanding of marine, coastal and estuarine environments. Get involved in research from estuaries to the deep sea. The 10-week program matches qualified students with faculty mentors representing a wide range of marine science research interests, including: Cetacean/Fisheries Conservation Genetics; Marine Aquaculture; Physical, Chemical and Biological Oceanography; Marine Geology; Coastal Ecology; Marine Renewable Energy; Marine Biological Invasions; Satellite Remote Sensing and many others.
One of the largest marine labs in the Pacific Northwest, HMSC in Newport is a thriving research community where students interact with university faculty and government agency scientists and have easy access to the "living laboratory" of Oregon's coastal estuaries and the ocean. On the OSU main campus in Corvallis, CEOAS trains the next generation of biological, chemical, geological and physical oceanographers, offering opportunities for interdisciplinary research in world-class labs and facilities.
