Description:
The Mitchell Institute awards a scholarship each year to a graduating senior from every public high school in Maine. The scholarship award is for $8,000 with the award paid out in four equal installments of $2,000. With this scholarship comes an array of personal, academic and professional support programs along with a network of over 2,000 Mitchell Scholars, Alumni, and partners. The focus of the Mitchell Institute has always been, and continues to be, Maine students attending Maine colleges and universities. In an effort to help as many Maine students as possible obtain a higher education, the Mitchell Institute also has scholarships available for Maine students planning to attend college out of state.

The Fisk-Vanderbilt Master’s-to-PhD Bridge Program focuses on increasing the number of underrepresented minorities in astronomy, biology, chemistry, materials science and physics. Students work towards the Master’s degree at Fisk with the intention to enter a PhD program at Vanderbilt or elsewhere, with access to instructional and research opportunities at both institutions.
