The Institute for Broadening Participation collaborated with COSEE-OS on this webinar with the goal of sharing the basics of how undergraduates can seek and apply for summer research experiences. Liv Detrick and Chris Cash from the Institute for Broadening Participation (IBP) guided participants through a concept map-based presentation highlighting a variety of information and tips that can help students to get started on or enhance their applications. Veterans of paid summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) and NASA summer internships were also on hand to provide first-hand insights into their recent research opportunities.

Liv Detrick and Chris Cash foam the Institute for Broadening Participation (IBP) reviewed the basic differences between the undergraduate and graduate experience, outlined the different funding options available, including fixed and portable funding sources, and reviewed a timeline and tips on applying. Adrian Ponce, guest speaker from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, elaborated upon opportunities available from NASA.
