The Meyerhoff Graduate Fellows Program began at UMBC in 1996 with an MBRS-IMSD (Minority Biomedical Research Support - Initiative for Maximizing Student Development) grant from the National Institute of General Medical Science. In 2007, the Meyerhoff Graduate Fellows Program expanded its efforts the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Graduate Programs in Life Science (GPILS). The program is open to all U.S. citizens and permanent residents.
Students do not apply for the Meyerhoff Graduate Fellowship. Once you have been accepted in to a participating Ph.D. program, you are recommended for the fellowship by the department. Fellowships are awarded until all of the positions are filled.The fellowship is currently a 12-month fellowship.
