This program involves over twenty students from Alabama, Northern Germany, South Africa, and Italy that participate in a multiple-week series of lectures, hands-on projects, and excursions as they learn both the theoretical underpinnings and practical applications of Space Weather and solar and space physics. Alabama students get a unique opportunity to travel to Germany, and during the camp, students will be enrolled (at no cost) in a summer course at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
JSWSC consists of three parts: (a) on June 29 participants go through orientation in Huntsville, Alabama and depart for Germany on June 30, (b) during July 1 - July 13 the camp takes place in Northern Germany, and (c) during July 14 - July 28 camp participants come back to Huntsville, Alabama.
Eligible expenses including transportation to Huntsville and Germany, meals, lodging, and tuition for this course will be covered.
This opportunity is open to undergraduate and graduate students majoring in physical sciences, computer science, applied mathematics, and engineering at eligible Alabama institutions.
