The Mayo Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Program, sponsored by Mayo Graduate School, is a great way to build your skills as a young scientist or test your inclinations toward research.

Mayo Clinic's Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Program gives you more than just work experience in a lab. As a SURF fellow you will:

Conduct your own small research project or work on part of an ongoing research investigation for 10 weeks

Develop your technical skills

Participate in a special weekly seminar series that introduces you to rapidly progressing research areas

The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program award is $5,000 (minus taxes) for 10 weeks. From this stipend, students are responsible for their own travel, housing and meals. Most students live together in a convenient summer student housing area, which costs about $200 per week.
