Description:
Michigan Health Sciences Undergraduate Research Academy is a ten-week research fellowship program sponsored by the University of Michigan Medical School (UMMS) Office for Health Equity & Inclusion (OHEI) for undergraduate students attending any accredited college or university. In alignment with the student?s research and career interest, the academy will provide a research or clinical fellowship experience with a faculty a mentor that will be invested in the development of the student. Throughout the academy, the participants will:
-Acquire research or clinical experience
-Gain understanding of health disparities
-Explore health professional careers
-Participate in professional development seminars

At the end of the ten-weeks, the participants will have the opportunity to exhibit their research or clinical experience at a research symposium attended by faculty, staff and students at the University of Michigan. Approximately 20 fellows participate in the Michigan Health Sciences Undergraduate Research Academy.

In alignment with the mission of the Office for Health Equity & Inclusion (OHEI), the Michigan Health Sciences Undergraduate Research Academy is committed to building a diverse workforce by exposing and preparing undergraduate students for careers in biomedical and health sciences. The academy provides a research or clinical experience to undergraduate students in order to advance their biomedical research and health professional career portfolio.
