Academic Level:
K-12 Educators

The STEM Leadership Center, in partnership with Regeneron Pharmaceuticals of Tarrytown, NY, Teachers College of Columbia University and U.S. Satellite Lab in Rye, NY, offers STEM Teaching Fellowships sponsored by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, a science-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops and manufactures medicines for the treatment of serious medical conditions. Teachers are an integral influence in a student's choice to pursue a STEM career, and the STEM Teaching Fellowship Program is a powerful asset to help bridge the shortage of highly-skilled science teachers who will empower the next generation of thinkers and innovators.

The program awards fellowships annually to ten outstanding 7-12 science teachers from NYC and the Hudson Valley. The 16 month experience consists of online graduate coursework featuring NASA based science content leading to a Leadership Certificate in STEM from Teachers College, a two-week summer research experience in the laboratories at Regeneron and the opportunity for the school district to participate in Regeneron's annual Day of Service event which annually deploys hundreds of scientists and engineers into local schools to bring professional science into the classroom setting. note: the summer research program requires a daily commute to Regeneron's HQ in Tarrytown, NY.

Key objectives of the program include providing Fellows with an exceptional academic experience highlighting STEM content and pedagogy and a unique opportunity to engage with top scientists on a short-term basis on current biotechnology research projects.
