Note: this opportunity encourages applications from community college students.Description: Held on the Florida campus of The Scripps Research Institute, DiVERGE is a three-day program designed for underrepresented students interested in biomedical research careers. The DiVERGE (Diversity Visitation Event for Research and Graduate Education) program seeks to inspire future scientists to pursue graduate studies, while giving participants an in-depth preview of TSRI's Summer Undergraduate Research Fellows (SURF) program and top-10 ranked doctoral program in the chemical and biological sciences.
While open to all students interested in biomedical research, TSRI's DiVERGE Program is especially geared toward students from underrepresented minority groups or disadvantaged backgrounds, including individuals from low-income families or first-generation college students.
Eligibility is limited to undergraduate students currently enrolled at a college or university in the US, and who are currently in their sophomore, junior or senior year.
Students who are selected for DiVERGE will attend special workshops and talks led by TSRI faculty members, meet with current graduate students, tour state-of-the-art chemistry and biology research laboratories, and attend scientific seminars. Travel to the Jupiter campus, as well as all food, lodging and other travel expenses will be paid by TSRI for the selected students.
