The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs at Northwestern University supports five different categories of postdoctoral appointments.

-Postdoctoral Scholar

-Postdoctoral Fellow-NRSA

-Postdoctoral Fellow-Direct Fellowship

-Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow

-WCAS Teaching and Research Postdoctoral Fellows (Formerly Mellon Postdoctoral Fellows)

All postdoctoral trainee positions are full-time positions for a minimum of 12 months. Your benefits’ eligibility varies according to your postdoctoral appointment classification. Information on each type of appointment and its associated benefits are listed on the website.
