Description:
The Grainger College of Engineering seeks to hire postdoctoral researchers to work with faculty in one or more of its twelve academic departments and/or its numerous centers and interdisciplinary research units. The Postdoctoral Research Associate is a full-time, benefits-eligible position appointed on a 12-month service basis. The initial appointment is for one year with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Candidates must have obtained a Ph.D. degree in a relevant field within 10 years of the position's start date. Current students must meet all doctoral degree requirements prior to the start date of the position; the formal degree-granting date may be later. The total length of all postdoctoral appointments at Illinois may not exceed five years.

Applicants will automatically be considered for selection into the Grainger Distinguished Postdoc program. This program focuses on career advancement through infrastructure that includes:

1.A cohort model to increase representation and retention

2.Professional development on writing competitive grant proposals, teaching effectively, and engaging in impactful community outreach activities

3.Significant mentorship - both mentoring of the postdoc and the postdoc learning how to manage relationships and mentor graduate and undergraduate student researchers

4.Regular community-building activities to establish a vibrant interdisciplinary network of scholars that has a strong sense of belonging
