Academic Level:
Postdoc & Early Career

The Isbell and Tilman Labs at the University of Minnesota seek applications for a Postdoctoral Associate position investigating the use of bison grazing for savanna restoration at Cedar Creek Ecosystem Science Reserve. The specific questions to be investigated will depend on the interests of the successful applicant, but will consider interactions between bison grazing, fire frequency, oak regeneration, biodiversity, and ecosystem functioning at this field site. The postdoc will help restore bison grazing to oak savanna ecosystems; experimentally test how bison grazing and prescribed fire alter oak regeneration, plant communities, and soils; and help disseminate results from the project by publishing peer-reviewed scientific journal articles, and by engaging with students and members of the public. The successful applicant will coordinate, supervise, and conduct field research at Cedar Creek; analyze data and models; and write, submit, and publish peer-reviewed scientific papers. The initial appointment will be for one year, with potential renewal for a second year.
