Description:
Shoals Marine Laboratory (SML) located on Appledore Island, Isles of Shoals, Maine offers summer research internships for undergraduate college students. Interns work directly with mentors and SML scientists to conduct research experiments and projects. Internships provide invaluable career-related experience and help develop skills that will increase your marketability when it's time to apply to graduate school or pursue a full-time job.

SML provides room, board, and round-trip transportation to and from Appledore Island to all interns unless otherwise specified. SML offers internships in a wide variety of disciplines, including:

- Field Ornithology (seabirds)

- Intertidal Ecology

- Marine Mammal Population Studies (seals)

- Ecological Genomics

- Environmental Education & Outreach

- Island Horticulture

SML's research internship program evolves each year; some internships are contingent upon funding.
