Description:
Undergraduate research is a powerful tool for engaging students in the frontiers of understanding for power dense systems. It can also motivate students to pursue advanced degrees and careers in research and development in this field. Undergraduates in POETS?s intensive Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program will be paired with a faculty supervisor and a graduate student mentor for 10 weeks during the summer to conduct full-time research on power optimization for electro-thermal systems. POETS's fundamental goals for the REU are to improve the students' communication skills through presentations and scientific writing.

Train students in engineering ethics.

Build leadership and cross-disciplinary teamwork skills by organizing undergraduate researchers into multi-disciplinary cohorts.

Participants would be placed at one of the partner institutions, Stanford, University of Arkansas, or University of Illinois.
